Modeling Inertial Sensors Errors Using Allan Variance
It is well known that Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) can provide high accuracy information on the position, velocity, and attitude over a short time period. However, their accuracy degrades rapidly with time. The requirements for accurate estimation of navigation information necessitate the modeling of the sensors' noise components. Several methods have been devised for stochastic modeling o...
متن کاملQuantifying noise in optical tweezers by allan variance.
Much effort is put into minimizing noise in optical tweezers experiments because noise and drift can mask fundamental behaviours of, e.g., single molecule assays. Various initiatives have been taken to reduce or eliminate noise but it has been difficult to quantify their effect. We propose to use Allan variance as a simple and efficient method to quantify noise in optical tweezers setups. We app...
متن کاملUsing Allan Variance to Determine the Calibration Model of Inertial Sensors for Gps/ins Integration
In this research, Allan Variance analysis is used to identify the stochastic error sources existing in inertial sensors and to determine the corresponding noise parameters. According to the noise parameters, the power spectral density (PSD) function of the stochastic error sources can be determined. The differential equation descriptions for individual stochastic errors are then derived for two...
متن کاملNon-Stationary CT Image Noise Spectrum Analysis
We investigate the spatial dependency of noise characteristics in CT images. The perceived image quality depends on the noisegranularity. Especially in low-dose applications the noise granularity influences the diagnostic value. A model is presented, that provides two-dimensional, stationary noise realizations for arbitrary image pixel locations from which two-dimensional Noise Power Spectrum e...
متن کاملSpectral ambiguity of Allan variance
The phase-noise spectrum determines the Allan variance by a well-known integral formula. It is shown here that unique inversion of this formula is not possible in general because the mapping from spectrum to Allan variance is not one-to-one. A necessary and sufficient condition for two distinct phase spectra to have the same Allan variance is given.
